Common repair jobs on Henleaze roofs
Slipped and cracked tiles
Usually a failed nail or nib rather than a failed roof. We refix with the correct clips and nails so it stays put.
Ridge and hip mortar
Bedding mortar cracks and lets water track along the ridge. We rebed, or fit a dry ridge system where it suits the roof and the street.
Valleys between gables
Houses with cross gables have valleys, and valleys carry a lot of water. Lead or tile valleys that have split or silted up are a common cause of leaks into bedrooms.
Chimney flashings
Stacks on older houses have been repointed and re-flashed many times over. We cut flashings back into the joint, not onto the brick face.
Tile-hanging
Vertical tiles on gables and attic storeys slip just like roof tiles. We replace individual tiles without stripping the whole face.
Bay and porch roofs
Small, low and easy to forget, and they often have the oldest lead on the house.
From your call to a finished repair
You call or send photos
Ring 0800 494 7291 or use the quote form. Photos taken from the garden or an upstairs window are often enough for a first opinion.
We look properly
From a ladder, a roof hatch or, where needed, a scaffold tower. We look at the inside of the roof too, because that is where the water trail starts.

The repair
Done to BS 5534, with matching or compatible materials, and the area cleared of debris and old mortar.
Photos afterwards
You see the finished work, including the parts you cannot see from the street.
Four things worth knowing before you book
A leak rarely shows up under its cause
Water runs along felt and timbers before it drips. The stain on your ceiling may be a metre or two from the gap in the roof.
Silicone is not a repair
Sealant over a cracked flashing buys a season at most and makes the proper fix harder. We remove it.
Conservation areas still allow repairs
Like-for-like repairs on houses in The Downs Conservation Area do not usually need permission. Changing the material or the look can. We will tell you which applies.
A listed roof is different
If your house is listed, most changes need listed building consent, and the rule applies to repairs that alter the character. Ask us before anyone climbs up.
Roof repair FAQs
How quickly can you come out?
For a leak that is actively coming in, we aim to come the same day. For non-urgent repairs we book a visit at a time that suits you. See emergency repairs.
Do you need scaffolding?
Not for most repairs. Ladders, roof ladders and towers cover the majority of jobs. Where scaffolding is needed it is itemised in the quote.
Can you match my tiles?
Usually, from reclaimed or current stock. Where an exact match is not possible we will show you the options before we start.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes. The written guarantee sets out exactly what is covered. Read how it works.
